NEW Nerf Elite Demolisher blaster! What a blast from the past ;) Info and background after jump.
I had the pleasure of playing with this what seems many moons ago! I'm glad to see it take shape a little more defined, but i'm not surprised it is still in prototype mode. It was referred to as Rayzorback. As we know the Revonix360 went thru several changes from a detachable drum to a fixed permanent internal drum.
So the particulars below, broken by Popular Mechanics:
"Nerf N-STRIKE ELITE DEMOLISHER 2-IN-1 Blaster
(Ages 8 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $39.99 /£39.99/Available: Fall 14)
Take NERF shots to the next level with the 2-IN-1 blaster that dominates both MEGA and ELITE missions! The DEMOLISHER 2-IN-1 blaster is impressive in size and power firing up to 100 feet, featuring semi-motorized blasting, a 10 dart banana clip, and all new missiles. Connect NERF scopes and lights to the blaster’s top Tactical Rail System and set sights on some of coolest NERF shots performed. Blaster includes two missiles and 10 N-STRIKE ELITE darts. Four AA batteries required, not included. Available at most major retailers nationwide and HasbroToyshop.com."
It's an absolute beast of a blaster. Hasbro has not failed with these advances. What advances MLD? Well the point of this repaint scheme is to house the new smart internals for the new Elite range. Hence the reason for phasing out the Elite Blue/White scheme and the defunct N-Strike (yellow) series. From the info you can see that this is a staple for the new Elite range, to hit 100ft ranges (angled). With the Mega range now setting the scene for Nerf, the other lines have to match up or lose out. Competition is edging up its game, so Hasbro have had to meet the challenge head on.
Another thing we see is the undersling grenade launcher. This is something I mentioned back last year, and it's really great to see it come to fruition and develop some more. IIRC it has up to 50 ranges (at the time this was flat, but perhaps they have had to change this design to match toy laws). The undersling goes 3/4 of the way forward (easy to break when dropped?) and then pops off the round with some power. This is definitely up for modding - how much? We will have to wait and see.
This blaster will pack 3 tac-rails - 1 top, 1 side, 1 under muzzle.
The other thing which I mentioned in a recent podcast was the fact that we will see new accessories in the new OJ scheme. I believe there will be 6 new laser sights, 3 for Elite (includes Mega), 1 Dart Tag (hint hint), Zombie Strike and 1 for Vortex. The Stocks and Sights again there should be 6 broken down in the same fashion. But it will not end there, for now I will leave it at that until I get the ok from Hasbro. The whole awesome look of the Masterkey mod has to be heralded as inspiration for the 2-1.
The Banana clips feature new smart spring tech which will fix the loading errors fans faced when using fly-wheel blasters. Some fans reported to have this on standard slam-fire or regular prime blasters. The fly-wheel tech has been changed to accommodate the requirement of more more firepower. Ever since they put out the Rapidstrike, they have been up against it to match it in the new range (I'm calling it OJ Strike). The clips will be sold in single accessories as well as bonus packs of 2 clips, 20 darts + blaster.
I'm looking forward to the other compliments to this range, you won't be disappointed believe me. For now, expect the whole Elite range as you know to be overhauled and reworked.
A HvZ gamechanger? I don't know, perhaps. With Masterkey mods pretty much limited to knowing someone who can do it or being talented to do it for yourself these will prove a decent catch. What it depends all upon is the fact of it's rate of fire, ability of pop darts without jams or issue and it's range and accuracy. With those elements put to the test, we will know the answer - expect it fast from the modsmiths!
2014 is going to be a pretty awesome year. Who's up for this? Because you ai n't seen nothing yet :P
My question is - has Elite (blue/white) had long enough on the shelf?
