NEW 2014 Fall Nerf Zombie Strike Slingfire unveiled!

Thanks to Hasbro for the update on the NEW 2014 Nerf Zombie Strike Slingfire blaster!
This has been a long running rumour from our contacts in China, and it looks like they were on the money! As far back as May 2013 I was told about this blaster lurking around and set to hit shelves at a later date, with updates popping up.

So here is the official sales description:

NERF ZOMBIE STRIKE SLINGFIRE Blaster
(Ages 8 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $29.99 UDS (£24.99GBP)/Available: Fall 14)
Zombie hordes are no match for the ZOMBIE STRIKE SLINGFIRE blaster! The blaster’s lever-action allows for quicker reloads on the run and DIY-style designs lend an authentic feel to any NERF zombie attack. Blaster comes complete with one six dart clip and six ZOMBIE STRIKE darts which can be fired up to 75 feet. Features the NERF Tactical Rail System customizable with NERF N-STRIKE scopes and accessories, each sold separately. Available at most major retailers nationwide and HasbroToyShop.com.

So! Our first lever-action blaster in the Nerf universe! I have to say I was expecting it much more after last nights official NerfNation comment. I'm excited I have to say to get my hands on one, purely from the point of spam firing this the best I can looking down the iron-sight :)

I'm pretty interested in the whole "scopes and accessories sold separately". Are Nerf fans finally in for some accessory love? We saw the EPPS finally hit open shelf sale in Singapore - but any other territory is yet to see them. We live in hope!

They mention how easily it can be reloaded on the fly. The Revonix 360 was also heralded by Hasbro as champion on reloading on the fly effortlessly. Mixed opinion on this as fans experienced more jams and misfire to actually say "yeah 100% easy to reload on the fly". My opinion is that you MIGHT pop the lever 90' out, it activates the quick release on the clip, it drops out, you pop a new clip in, it snaps back the lever and chambers the next shot? MAYBE it is that simple? Chime and and let me know if that is indeed plausible modsmiths!

DIY style? Perhaps they will be providing Nerfers with Zombie Strike transfers (decals?). I can't imagine any other reason for saying this - they sure as hell won't be endorsing mods! On the fence about this one really. What are you thinking?

It packs a 6dart clip, which is OK but who really wants that? I will be packing this badboy full of cs-18s! What strikes me first off the bat is how much it looks like the love child of a Stryfe and Sledgefire.

The mechanism is something interesting also. It smacks familiar to the Buzz Bee Fire Tek blaster (below), so what is the BIG question - IS it Direct Plunger? I'm no modsmith, but the potential to be Direct Plunger is pretty good... however the more I think of this, the more I worry of it being REVERSE plunger! *scream*. 75 feet claims are nice and all, but show us the money (Mega Centurion 100ft range anyone?

Whilst it looks like it is pretty slim and streamline, this is actually the first clip fed blaster in the Zombie Strike range, and it kicks off with somewhat of a mixed reception for sure. I like the look, I had hoped for a long barrel blaster, but CQB battle wise this is welcome.

Sling points on the butt of the Stock and at the muzzle of the barrel could come in handy, whilst rocking what seems to be just the one tactical rail on the topside of the blaster. It's confirmed to not be battery operated, some fans had hoped for perhaps a fly-wheel or even a new cartridge eject system. Again the blaster is going to come down to that magic factor which is utility.

The main factor of that requirement is range, and how consistent it is. It appears to be comfortable. I can actually picture myself holding the blaster, peeing around corners picking off incoming targets. I do have concerns that dropping the blaster might have adverse affects on the internal workings or worse(?) the lever snap clean off.

London Toy Fair is happening in just over one week, where we will see some new blasters and the start of a complete new line. Either way, time to get dual wielding this badboy shouting in my best Arnold impression :D

Am I the only one here thinking that they could have done a little more with this blaster?

  3. There are definitely a lot of differences between the Slingfire and Buzzbees, and I look like the look of it... This could be a really good Steampunk Mod which I need to do for my character... I've got the two hammershots now I need this to complete the outfit... I am definitely going to get one to test out, mod and see how it works, if it works well I will definitely be getting more to mod and sell...

  7. Not exactly the blaster I was expecting! Kind of hoping for an electronic Mega dart fed blaster... or a life size Nerf tank. Thank God its not a Vortex blaster though! They need to just stop with those!

The lever almost certainly could eject the mag, on real lever action weapons this is how you gain access to the internal mag, so props to the Nerf designers if they have incorporated it! Could the Perpetual Play blaster sleeve have been designed to take this blaster already? It's slim profile and the fact that there is a hole in the sleeve for a mag certainly suggests so. I like the looks of this, I expect Retaliator levels of performance and mod potential, putting a max of around 120fps for 5 to 8 kg spring. Not convinced the lever will handle higher spring rates well however!
