EXCLUSIVE NEW Mega Thunderbow

An upcoming 2014 blaster! It's going to be EPIC folks! Thanks to Mania.com for the heads up.
Stuck in college right now, with limited inet access, so will add more info when I get home.  Thanks to Rob over at Mania for this - it's great to know you're a big fan of the site :) Enjoy!

Description is below:

NERF N-STRIKE MEGA THUNDERBOW
NERF N-STRIKE MEGA THUNDERBOW Toy
(Ages 8 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $39.99/Available: Fall 14)
Awesome NERF MEGA performance transitions from blaster to bow with the addition of the N-STRIKE MEGA THUNDERBOW toy. The bow’s dynamic arms and traditional pull back system can fire five NERF MEGA whistler darts in a row up to an amazing 100 feet. Includes 10 MEGA Whistler darts and holds up to five NERF MEGA darts at a time. Available at most major retailers nationwide and HasbroToyshop.com”.
Well well well, the range should be 100 feet - a massive step up from the 40ft bow we saw at last years TF in New York. Not quite up there with Zing bows, but this sure will be interesting.

It does look like a love child of the Rough Cut and the Big Bad Bow, but the mechanism looks to work by snapping back / drawing back the arms on prime and then unleash 1 Mega Whistler dart at a time. The size should encourage some meaty mods and look decent on us kidults :)

What I do want to mention is, that we seem to be watching Hasbro remaking their competitions top selling products in the Nerf mould. We can't complain, as a fans we get the better end of the deal - right? For example Buzz Bee Rapid Fire Tek has been picked up and moulded in to the new Nerf Zombie Strike Slingfire.
Lets be honest here, it does look massively like an oversized Rebelle Heartbreaker with... Mega Whistler darts. Accuracy is really what this is going to come down to as well as an acceptable range. And if it can match the Magnus, I think fans will take a serious look at this blaster.
The Nerf Mega Magnus Blaster will officially be revealed this coming week at Toy Fair in London on the 21st of January!

More details to come - is this to your liking folks?

  4. the bow string does not appear to be connected to a plunger assembly at all. How does it fire?

I would have liked this far more as a mega styled rough cut

  5. From what I see, the bow string is the priming handle, and the top bow ARM is the mechanism. You pull on the string, pulling back the bow arms, which then pull on the internal plunger. I guess the string isn't remotely elastic?

P.S. Don't you think that having a twin-clip design would make people want the slingfire even more? Like a rough-cut 2X4, but with clips and lever action.

  9. Hang in man, we will be seeing "smaller" Mega releases earlier this year, with the big hitters for Xmas. Watch this space!

  10. I THINK the Thunderbow fires with its bowstring arms. The bow string seems non existent from the second image.

  11. Harrison I think you're on to something here. Maybe we could have seen a better priming system...
