NEW Nerf Zombie Strike Sidestrike images

Thanks to Kyu Chen for sending these images of his new Nerf Zombie Strike Sidestrike!
(*Warning Pic Spam*)

Baidu taking the mainstage again with this years new release pistol in the upcoming Zombie Strike range. Enjoy the pics! But before we hit the show, here is the official sales description:

Nerf Zombie Strike Sidestrike Blaster (Spring 2014 US)
The ZOMBIE STRIKE SIDESTRIKE blaster is the first NERF blaster with a holster for both dart and blaster storage, leaving hands free to carry supplies and post-apocalyptic gear. The quick-draw blaster possesses ELITE performance, firing ZOMBIE STRIKE darts up to 75 feet. The included holster is also compatible with the NERF FIRESTRIKE blaster, sold separately. Comes with six ZOMBIE STRIKE darts. ($14.99)

The holster is what gets my attention here, but I have to say this blaster... is kind of growing on me! It looks pretty solid looking, and he claims that it gets short of Elite ranges. I have asked for a range test video which he will put up when he can. We first saw this blaster pop up when in July (Zombie Strike range to blow up for 2014). The holster uses a simple belt clip that is something new to the accessory world of Nerf blasters. Kyu confirms that other Elite blasters like Firestrike, Jolt, Sweet Revenge type sidearms won't work with this holster (which is sad but there are decent MilSim / Hobby Specialist / homemade solutions out there - AND the sales description confirms it DOES work with the Firestrike?).

Considering the full load out here, 7 darts is what we see. 4 in the holster with easy access (nice touch), and then 3 in the in the blaster (1 in the chamber, 2 in holder). As a single shot blaster, it makes it a bit more appealing to want this. It looks pretty streamline which aesthetically is something we all appreciate as fans, but it looks better in the flesh than its promo shot. According to Kyu he is working on making this a real trigger blaster - that's one mod I would love to see personally.

I have to say, utility wise, when you have the Hammer Shot / Sweet Revenge blasters on offer, is this another Stockade-pointless-thanks-to-Stryfe decision?

For $14.99 I originally found it hard to justify buying myself, and the feedback I got mirrored that sentiment, but Nerf, you dun got me. I admit I was pretty let down when the range was all unveiled, but the more I check this out, the more it is appealing. Speaking to Hasbro, they told me that the designers wanted to have a mix of faux grip with regular sidearm style. Fair enough, and something I've mentioned on occasion but I don't think it would hurt to faux the whole range. It just adds a unique edge to the whole range. I can't be alone in this thinking. Who's with me?

Ultimately what we are looking at is typical mods and then a return to this space for judgement.

He claims to have seen a rifle, what that is can't be said. I would like to think it might be the elusive ZSwinchester, but the jury is out for now until he gets us pics. Anything else? He reports a new Nerf blaster named Magnus will be popping up soon. Magnus? Sounds big. Mega-big?

EDIT 03/09/13: Got this update from a fellow Nerf fan regarding the Nerf Magnus:
"So I was at Target (in Canada) and I was talking to a guy who was helping me look for the new ZS gear. In the grey section (unreleased) I saw two listings/SKUs for a "Nerf Magnus". I also remember seeing a listing for (a single one) the new Rebelle line and one more blaster that I forget the name of. Next time I drop by I'll take some pics from a kiosk or something."
Anyone able to get any shots?  Cheers!

What we thinking folks? Minds changed or still on the fence?

  1. I'd really like to see a semi-auto pistol without the big front-end all big and gluggy and impossible to holster. Though the SS does look very appealing. Magnus? Yes please! Winchester? Hells yeah!

  5. If the internals are as good as the firestrike I might consider getting this as a new sidearm.

  6. I very much like how the tactical rail is actually on the underside of the blaster, nice touch there. $15 does seem a bit steep though, I'll probably wait for it to go on sale.

  7. I can get two triads that fit in my pocket and hold six darts between them for that price. Plus I don't get a poor plastic holster. My BSUK firestrike one will fit other blasters and won't fall off my belt, plus it is made in the UK.

  8. I wonder.. if the holster is ambidextrous.. in that one could fit the Blaster in their for a right or left handed person... or both for DW?
